Can someone explain this?

"Judge Robert Brown ordered the jury to return not guilty verdicts."

I thought the point of a trial was to have a jury convict you (or not) on evidence? And a judge's job was to make sure the lawyers didn't break any judicuary laws?
I've seen this a couple of times, where the judge tells them what verdict they are to return. if that's the case, whats the point of having jury's at all? just have the judge deside.... as he already is.

then on the same bbc page, there's this:
"Four men have appeared in court in the first crown court criminal trial to be held without a jury in England and Wales for more than 350 years."

ummm?
the damn bed broke again.

I found shahhe sleeping in the tub. wth? its not cold enough for her?
I've been up 3 hours and shahhe has stollen my chair 4 times. and asked politely for it once. I have to admit, when i get her off it, it's been warmed very nicely.
